With decades of experience among them, the team of mammogram technologists at Wayne Memorial each feel a strong connection to their patients. “A mammogram saved my grandmother’s life,” Lead Mammogram Technologist Loretta Woods (right) says. Katy Bishop (center), adds she also feels a personal connection to patients coming in for mammograms after a family member was diagnosed with cancer. Tabitha Hensley (left), shares one of the rewarding parts of her role is, “being able to give patients an opportunity for the early detection of breast cancer.” Woods adds that a mammogram can detect breast cancer up to 10 years before a lump may be felt via self-examination.
With two, 3D Hologic mammogram machines, women are afforded a more comfortable experience with less compression. Curved paddles are also available at the patient’s request. Mammograms are available Monday through Friday at Wayne Memorial.
