Wayne Memorial Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation services are conveniently located on the hospital campus and are ready to meet your therapy needs. The Cardiac Rehabilitation program under Dr. Gary Stern is designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals who have experienced a cardiac event. Once you receive a physician or cardiologist referral for cardiac rehabilitation, a thorough evaluation by our licensed therapist will be conducted and a plan of care created. We work with your primary care or referring physician throughout the entire process to individualize your treatment.
What is considered a cardiac event?
- Chest Pain (Angina)
- Heart Attack (Myocardial infarction)
- Heart Sx including Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) or Valve sx
- Angioplasty or Stent placement
- Congenital Heart Disease
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
- Cardiomyopathy
- Heart Transplant
- Peripheral Artery Disease with pain in arms/legs with activity (claudication)
What does Cardiac Rehabilitation entail
- Exercise counseling and training
- Education in managing risk factors such as; weight management, Nutrition, Diabetes, High cholesterol, Smoking, Alcohol use, high blood pressure.
- Counseling in techniques that reduce stress and anxiety when dealing with heart disease.
State of the art equipment includes:
- Seated elliptical machine
- Seated stationary bike
- Upper body ergometer (UBE)
- Traditional treadmill
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8AM-12pm
