Hospital Employees Donate 392 Toys for Wayne County Toy Drive, while Hospital Donates $1,500
Employees Bested 2020’s Toy Count by 156
In lieu of buying Christmas gifts for their physicians, Wayne Memorial Hospital donated $1,500 to the Wayne County Toy Drive. Employees also added to the gift by donating 392 new, unwrapped toys. A local physician also donated monetarily. Shown with the check are, from left to right, Jesup City Manager Rose Marcus, Jesup City Tax Clerk Tracy Smith, Dr. Stanley Jones, Hospital CEO Joe Ierardi, Hospital Employee Leeann Randolph, Hospital Employee Rebecca Hinshaw and Hospital Employee Joie Spellman. This year’s gift of 392 toys is 156 more toys than last year’s total toy count of 236.
Since 2009, the hospital has been donating money and/or toys to the cause spearheaded by the city of Jesup. All money and gifts stay in Wayne County for the benefit of local children, ages 0-18. For some children, the gifts from the toy drive may be the only ones received for Christmas. Anyone interested in giving to the drive at any point of the year may contact Jesup City Hall at (912) 427- 1313.
