Wayne Memorial Teams up with Jesup’s Downtown Strand Cinema for Breast Cancer Awareness Benefit

Downtown Jesup’s Strand Cinema will be hosting a “Ladies Night Out” Tuesday, October 25that 6 p.m. The dinner cinema will have a special viewing of the film “Where the Crawdads Sing” with 100 percent of the entry donation going to the American Cancer Society, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For a $20 donation, each attendee will receive a ticket for the movie, popcorn and soda. Additional menu items from Bruce’s Chophouse will be available for order from the attendee’s seat, if desired.

The Strand Theater opened in 1924 with seating listed at 894. The theater was twinned in 1988 and was renamed the Strand Cinema Twin. It is located in the heart of the downtown business district on Cherry Street. The theater closed in 2009 and reopened on November 17, 2016 having been purchased and remodeled by Ralph and Jamie Hickox. In 2018, The Historic Strand Dinner Cinema was named Small Business of the Year for the State of Georgia. Attracting customers from all over southeast Georgia, the Strand has regularly attracted over 120,000 admits a year.

Wayne Memorial Hospital, whose mission is to provide high quality health care services to all patients, built a state-of-the-art facility in 2007. It is the third largest employer in Wayne County with 500 employees, 84 beds and is a three-time winner of the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals Small Hospital of the Year Award.
